Bio

I have seen recurring problems with our landscapes because we are not working with nature.  Sage Garden Designs LLC has simple solutions to these problems and they begin with design. 

I have over 15 years professional experience as a horticulturalist.  My experience includes working with 3 different landscape design, build and maintenance companies in Indianapolis. Also, 2 in Los Angeles, CA.  In addition, I spent 10 years with Los Angeles Department of Parks and Recreation as an Arboretum Gardener.  This position included large scale garden design and maintenance, educational programming, and community outreach.  I also have a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree.  In my most current positions, in Indianapolis, I worked as a  quality control manager for bed-care, install, lawn-care and irrigation.  I was also a designer, project manager and crew member trainer.  I am familiar with all aspects of landscape design, install and maintenance.  I can collaborate with you to install your garden vision!

My business objective is to increase pollinator habitat in urban areas.  I want to add highly attractive native plant options to our cityscape.  Native gardens do not have to look weedy during parts of the year.  With strategic inclusion of "nativars" and beneficial non-natives, our primarily native pollinator gardens can remain tidy and manageable. 

I'd like to transform the mainstream acceptance of constant shearing, blowing, herbicide and pesticide applications that traditional landscape companies include in the core of their business model.  With the right plant in the right place this is unnecessary.  I have many out of the box design and maintenance ideas.
